CAINTA - ITS 38-game winning streak just having been broken, Abra vented its ire on Marikina on Thursday at the One Cainta Arena here in Rizal.

The defending champion Weavers dropped a 36-point hammer right on the heads of the Big Z Burger, 89-53, to return to the 2026 MPBL win column now at 3-1.

Former Mapua big Drex Delos Reyes stood tall for avenging Abra, dropping 16 points and eight rebounds in their bounce-back win coming from a loss to resurgent San Juan a week ago.

“Yung game namin sa San Juan, ginamit ko para mas makabawi ako sa game na ito. Mas nag-ready lang ako at kami,” he told SPIN.ph.

In what was easily his strongest showing so far in the season, the 6-foot-8 center powered the Weavers' second half breakaway, where he showcased the skillset the team has empowered him to showcase.

“Sabi ng mga coaches, mas kaya ko naman eh, nasa sa'kin lang, hindi ko lang ginagawa,” he added, as he only got two points in their streak-busting defeat at the hands of the Knights.

In lieu of team captain Dave Ildefonso, out due to an ankle injury, older brother Shaun held down the fort, flanking Delos Reyes with 11 points and five boards off the bench.

Kassius Small-Martin also thrived as the Fil-Am player fielded over DJ Fenner with 10 points and four assists.

JR Alabanza led the way for 2-4 Marikina in finishing with 13 points and seven boards.

Batang Kankaloo can’t lose

Meanwhile, Caloocan stayed spotless with a demolition of Bacolod, 99-52.

Steering the ship for the Batang Kankaloo was Ateneo product Dom Escobar, who delivered his best game with 21 points and eight rebounds.

Caloocan doubled the output of the Mascarras in almost all quarters, with Escobar’s fellow Blue Eagle Kymani Ladi backstopping him with 17 markers

Although unable to get going from the field, Kean Baclaan still contributed as primary table-setter for the Batang Kankaloo, offsetting his quiet five points with seven dimes alongside five rebounds.

On the losing end, Ram Mesqueriola’s 12 was far from enough, as Bacolod suffered its worst blowout while falling to 1-5.

In the first game, Warlo Batac sank a floater in the dying moments to make sure Pasig City escaped Basilan’s roaring comeback, 75-73.

Down by 11-point inside the last five minutes, the Steel went on a 15-4 run marked by two triples from Byron Villarias and five points from Neil Owens.

After two game-tying free throws from John Wilson, Pasig had five seconds and a full court to advance the ball and make a basket. Batac sliced through multiple defenders and attacked the middle, getting the friendly bounce on the floater that gave his side its second win.

Homegrown forward Jerome Garcia led Pasig in scoring with 18 points and four triples, as Jacob Galicia and Batac chimed in 16 and 10, respectively.

Wilson was the primary scorer for Basilan, firing 16 points in their third loss.
