CHiCAGO — All Cole Micek ever wanted was a chance, something that has somehow eluded him in the PBA for months.
In this ongoing PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup, a door opened when his current team, the Macau Black Knights, were taken in as a guest team.
Unfortunately, a rule prohibits the participation of Filipino players in a guest team.
Bummer.

Look, as Micek himself would tell you, he isn’t the Black Knight in shining, shimmering armor that would save Macau from the clutches of an 0-7 campaign.
“Was just hoping to provide them a spark of energy off the bench and maybe hit some 4s,” the 34th pick of the Season 50 PBA Draft told me.
TAT EXPLOSION.
Shut out of the Commissioner’s Cup, Micek suited up for Macau in the 2026 leg of The Asian Tournament.
And just last week, he turned in a whale of a performance.
He dropped 32 points against the Shenzen Leopards on Friday, hitting 11-of-16 field goals with five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Against the Vanta Black Dragons, which paraded five imports on Saturday, Micek sizzled with 41 points, 10 boards and five dimes while going 16-of-16 from the free throw stripe.
Averaging 23.2 in the current leg, the 6-foot-1 bucket-getter has amassed 541 points in 25 TAT games.
PBA BOUND?
The TAT is a dense but rigid league that is extremely tough because there are no limits on imports as long as there are two heritage players on the court at any given time.
Since that fiery demolition job in China, Cole is back with Macau’s PBA team where he intends to continue channeling wonderful vibes.
“Encouraging the guys on the sidelines during games.Tough not to be out there contributing but still maintaining good energy, a positive mindset, and being great teammate.”
His eruption in the TAT won’t guarantee a PBA signing; what it does is give him a closer look.
An awesome locker room presence, Cole Micek can torch defenses with a myriad of weapons.
Hopefully, he gets to do that stuff soon in the PBA.
