NIC Cabanero was the very definition of unstoppable on Thursday night, smashing the MPBL record with 53 points in Binan's 121-79 triumph over Pasig at home at the Alonte Sports Arena.

The scoring high mark in the regional league was previously held by Jeff Viernes, who dropped 50 points for Sarangani back in 2023.
And as if the record for most points scored in a single game wasn't enough, the former University of Santo Tomas stalwart also delivered 22 rebounds and 10 assists in the win that hiked Tatak Gel's record to 21-4 heading into the playoffs.
Weavers batter Batang Kankaloo
Meanwhile, defending champion Abra ended the eliminations with a resounding romp over fellow contender Caloocan, 81-59.
The Weavers’ ever-reliable duo of DJ Fenner and Dave Ildefonso was already in playoff form, with the former dropping 26 points and seven boards and the latter getting 18 points and three steals.
Abra sealed the deal in its victory in the fourth quarter, where it suffocated the Batang Kankaloo to just six points, four of which coming from free throws.
Caloocan shot a ghastly 33-percent from the field, with Kean Baclaan topping their scoring column with just 12 points, as Chris Bitoon chimed in 11.
The Weavers conclude the elims at 22-2, poised to face either Bataan or Pasig in the first round. The Batang Kankaloo, for their part, have two assignments left against Batangas and Pangasinan.
