THE Bataan Risers bared their sharpest form yet and battered Manila Batang Quiapo, 144-82, on Thursday to remain in contention for a playoff slot in the MPBL 2025 Season at the Ynares Center Montalban in Rizal Province.
With all 15 players scoring, seven in double figures, the Risers led from the start and sealed their ninth win against 14 losses midway through the fourth quarter, 124-71.
Sazon leads from front
Yves Sazon paced the Risers with 21 points and 2 rebounds, followed by fellow homegrown Dante Paguio with 18 points plus 3 rebounds; Mitchelle Maynes with 17 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals, and Carl Bringas with 14 points and 4 rebounds.
Robbi Marion Darang, Lorenz Capulong and Hubert Cani contributed 10 points each as the seven Risers' total points exceeded that of Manila, which tumbled to 2-20.
Dominant off both boards, 60-31, the Risers pumped in 84 points in the paint against only 30 for the Batang Quiapo.
Manila got 15 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists from Redgimir Eusebio, 14 points from Stephen Torralba, and 12 from Achie Inigo.
The MPBL goes to the Paco Arena on Friday, with games pitting Marikina against Batangas at 4 p.m., Gensan against Bacolod at 6 p.m., and Pampanga against Quezon City at 8 p.m.
