THE MPBL is planning to hold an invitational tournament later this year.
The league is waiting for communication from interested members teams as it determines the schedule and format.
In a letter to its member ballclubs signed by commissioner Kenneth Duremdes, the MPBL said the event will be held under a bubble or semi-bubble format, depending on the decision of the Inter-Agency Task Force.
Duremdes said the tournament “intends to provide the players, coaches, support personnel, as well as the MPBL staff a source of income for the holidays.”
The MPBL hasn’t played a game since the Lakan Season final last March with the Davao Occidental Tigers winning the title after defeating the San Juan Knights in Game Four at the Subic Bay Gymnasium.
The Davao Occidental Tigers topped the last MPBL tournament.
