MAHARLIKA Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) is looking to add more teams for its next conference, set to start on June 12.
"May mga expansion teams," said MPBL commissioner Kenneth Duremdes during the PSA Forum at Amelie Hotel Manila on Tuesday, naming the Bicol Volcanoes as one of the newcomers in a regional league already with 26 teams at hand.
Duremdes is still on a high following the exciting National Finals between San Juan and Davao Occidental, which went down to a Game 5 which the Knights won in come-from-behind fashion, 87-86, thanks to Jhonard Clarito's game-winner.
"This is one of the most exciting finals ever," he said. "Being there watching, naging fan ka for the series at iba itong nakita natin. We'll never know kung sinong mananalo until the last shot and it's amazing to see na buo ang loob at puso ng mga players, at matatag silang lahat.
"Nakita natin kung anong type of player sila, na hangga't may oras pa, hindi pa tapos laban," the former PBA MVP added. "For us, ang ganda ng feeling kasi nabigyan ng magandang entertainment ang mga basketball fans."
Duremdes is looking forward to more exciting seasons.
"Dito na-realize namin na marami palang talent na hindi pa nadi-discover. Maraming places na alam natin na basketball ang napaka-popular ang hindi pa napupuntahan. So we're expecting more action in the next season," he said.
