THE MPBL is set to probe a post-match incident in which one of its game officials was attacked inside the referees’ quarter following the game between Pasay and Abra at the Astrodome Tuesday night.
The scuffle reportedly involved the bodyguards of a team owner, an influential official in his region, who stormed the quarters of the referees and beat up the hapless official shortly after the game.

The Pasay Voyagers won over the Abra Weavers, 78-72.
The league headed by Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident as an inquiry is still being supervised by MPBL head of security Rudy Distrito.
The name of the referee was likewise withheld, although the victim already filed a complaint before the Pasay Police Sub-Station 3.
The league has also yet to talk personally to officials of the team involved as of post time.
The mauling incident was just the latest in Philippine basketball in which a referee was beaten up during or after a game.
In the 2015 season of the PBA D-League, Cagayan Valley coach Alvin Pua was meted a lifetime ban and fined P500,000 for punching a referee after resenting a call.
Missing the services of Mac Tallo and Prince Caperal, the Abra Weavers trailed by 16 points, 32-48, and dropped to 2-1 against the Pasay Voyagers, who leveled their slate at 1-1.
Abra was led by the 15 points and 11 rebounds of Michael Canate and the 13 points plus 6 rebounds from John Lloyd Clemente.
