MANILA Stars dominated the Valenzuela Classic, 90-76, even if Greg Slaughter's keenly awaited debut in the MPBL failed to push through on Friday night at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila.

Carl Bryan Cruz put up a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds to carry the load for the Stars, who also got four points and five boards from comebacking Rabeh Al-Hussaini on the way to their fifth win in eight games.
Slaughter, returning from his campaign in the Japan B.League stint, suited up but didn't play. The seven-footer later said he expects to play 'very soon.'

The Valenzuela Classic dropped to 5-4.
Nueva Ecija routed Bulacan, 105-66, to take a share of the lead with the San Juan Knights and the Quezon Huskers with a sixth straight win.
On the other hand, the Sarangani Marlins escaped with a 106-101 victory over the Imus Agimat VA Drones, improving to 2-6.
