BEHIND Ken Bono, Paul Desiderio, and Jerrick Caspe, Mindoro charged right through Pasay, 96-88, on Saturday at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena City and all the way back inside the winners' circle of the MPBL (Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League) Sixth Season .
Flashing the form that made him the 2006 UAAP MVP, the burly 6-foot-5 Bono posted 25 points, five rebounds, and three assists to power the Tamaraws to a bounce back win that hiked their record to 4-6.
Ex-University of the Philippines star Desiderio, for his part, notched 21 points, six rebounds, and four assists, while local find Caspe tallied 21 points, seven rebounds, and two assists to help their side rebound from a 95-65 drubbing at the hands of the San Juan Knights last Tuesday.
Together, they got the better of Pasay counterparts Patrick Sleat, Laurenz Victoria, and Warren Bonifacio.
Sleat fired a team-high 29 points to go with three rebounds, three assists, and three steals; Victoria poured in 18 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, while Bonifacio chalked 15 points, seven rebounds and two assists for the Voyagers, who skidded to 5-4.
The MPBL returns to the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center on Monday, May 27. The game day pits South Cotabato against Bicol at 4 p.m., San Juan against Negros at 6 p.m., and Paranaque against Pampanga at 8 p.m.
