The LG Sakers and Anyang KGC secured outright semifinal berths after finishing as the top two seeds in the regular season of the Korean Basketball League.
Carl Tamayo and Changwon clinched the No. 1 spot with a 36-18 record, despite a 78-56 loss to Ulsan in their final game of the eliminations.
Both Tamayo and Ulsan Mobis Phoebus’ Jake Figueroa, however, did not see action in the matchup.
Anyang, on the other hand, wrapped up the No. 2 seed with a 35-19 slate following a narrow 67-65 win over the Seoul SK Knights.
Rhenz Abando and Arvin Tolentino were also sidelined in that contest.
Alvano, KQ ball out late
Meanwhile, Ethan Alvano powered Wonju DB Promy to a 109-101 victory over the Busan KCC Egis with 19 points and nine assists, sealing a third-place finish.
Wonju is set to face Busan anew in the best-of-three quarterfinals.
Kevin Quiambao also delivered for Goyang Sono, posting 18 points, six rebounds, and three assists despite a 76-72 loss to Suwon KT.
The Skygunners still secured their first-ever playoff appearance, finishing fifth with a 28-26 record, and will take on the fourth-seeded SK Knights in another best-of-three quarterfinal series.
Winners of the quarterfinal matchups will advance to face Changwon and Anyang in the best-of-five semifinals.
