Monbert Arong heads Tarlac team in debut MPBL campaign

AFTER holding open tryouts, newcomer Tarlac United Force is close to finalizing its 19-man roster for the upcoming Season 6 of the MPBL.

Per a source, Tarlac already has signed the following players:

Marlon Gomez, Roberto Bartolo, Reggie Morido, Gab Reyes, Mon Mabayo, Wilson Baltazar, Monbert Arong, Drick Acosta, Renz Capulong, VJ Santos, Dan Sara, Maloles and Gilbert Ocampo.

Tarlac signed a Memorandum of Agreement to join the MPBL last March 5 with league founder and former Senator Manny Pacquiao.

Tarlac team owner Nicanor 'Nino' Reyes IV will serve as the team's acting head coach for now while John Flores will be the assistant coach. But a source said Flores will eventually take over the helm.

Flores is a former FIBA Asia 3x3 U-19 coach.

A venue where the United Force will host their home games has yet to be officially announced but the Tarlac State University gymnasium is reportedly being considered,

The defending champions Pampanga Giant Lanterns remain the league's benchmark, but Tarlac and fellow-newcomers Pangasinan Heatwaves and the Abra Weavers are hoping to be competitive.
