MO Tautuaa is once again setting a great example as he has rejoined Gilas Pilipinas as its backup naturalized player.
After playing back-up to Andray Blatche in Gilas 3.0, the Talk ‘N Text rookie is again making the sacrifice as he joins practice with a slim chance of getting included in the final lineup for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament next year.
“He (Tautuaa) really has no end game out of this,” national coach Tab Baldwin said of this year’s No. 1 overall pick. “The expectation is that Andray will be fit and will play.”
“Mo is our fallback option,” he added. “I like an insurance policy.”
“It’s a big sacrifice that he makes for a team that he may never play for,” the American-Kiwi mentor continued. “I appreciate that very much.”
Tautuaa tried to make up the numbers on Monday night when only nine healthy players managed to suit up.
“It feels good. I like being here,” the Filipino-Tongan slotman said before practice. “I like the chemistry that we had before. I’m hoping for the same. We’ll see how it goes.”
