MIGHTY Sports jumpstarted its Merlion Cup campaign with a big 92-87 comeback against Seoul Samsung Thunder at the OCBC Arena in Singapore on Wednesday (Manila time).
The Philippine side fell behind early, engaged the Koreans in a see-saw battle before the putting the game away behind a big finishing kick.
Imports Dewarick Spencer, Al Thornton, and Hamady N'Diaye starred for Mighty, which finished off the tough Korean side with a telling 12-5 run inside the final five minutes.
Mighty, coming off a title run in the Jones Cup in Taipei, also got a timely lift from Kiefer Ravena, who hit a crucial jumper that gave the Filipinos an 84-81 lead with one minute and 35 seconds left.
Thornton touched off the game-winning run with five straight points highlighted by a booming triple. N'Diaye completed a three-point play with 20 ticks remaining to seal the win for Mighty Sports, 92-85.
Mighty Sports will next face ABL champion Wesports Malaysia Dragons at 6:30pm on Friday.
