PRE-TOURNAMENT favorite Mighty Sports chalked up its second win in as many games after beating Supremo Lex 75-68 in the PCBL Chairman’s Cup on Friday at the Marikina Sports Center.
Living up to its billing as the tournament top seed, Mighty Sports vaulted into the solo lead in this tournament supported by Spalding, Hahn Manila, Gerry’s Grill, Ambucore and LGR.
John Lopez, a member of Jumbo Plastic’s squad last conference, led the way with 16 points and eight rebounds while Bright Akhuetie came away with a double-double performance of 15 points and 16 boards.
Import Amado Laminou led the way for Supreo Lex after scoring 25 points and pulling down 14 rebounds.
Mighty Sports also beefed up its ranks with the addition of PBA veteran and former De La Salle University standout TY Tang. He teams up with former UAAP men’s basketball MVP Kiefer Ravena at the backcourt.
“He brings a stable presence on the team,” said Mighty Sports coach Mike Fermin of Tang’s addition.
