MIGHTY Sports could be tapped to represent the Philippines once again in the William Jones Cup in Taipei.
Sources said Mighty Sports is strongly being considered to fly the flag in the annual July showpiece after the PBA board rejected Yeng Guiao's proposal to let the World Cup-bound Gilas Pilipinas side compete in Taipei.
Mighty Sports officials even appeared on Wednesday during a press conference hosted by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) when it unveiled the new logos of Gilas Pilipinas and the federation.
The Ateneo Blue Eagles represented the Philippines in last year's tournament.
Mighty Sports won the Jones Cup crown in 2016 with a team bannered by former NBA player Al Thornton, Hamady N’Diaye, Dewarick Spencer, and Michael Singletary.
Fil-American Jason Brickman also served as the main point guard of the squad.
Mighty Sports last played in the Dubai International Basketball Championship, finishing third with a team backstopped by Barangay Ginebra resident import Justin Brownlee and former NBA player Lamar Odom.
