EAC Generals score second straight victory, keep San Jose winless in MBL

The Generals are unbeaten so far in the MBL.

RUSTAN Bugarin and Juju Bautista led the way as Emilio Aguinaldo College beat New San Jose Builders, 93-82, in the 2016 MBL Open basketball tournament at the EAC gym.

Bugarin and Bautista combined for 36 points for the Generals, who outscored the Builders, 36-16, in the second quarter en route to their second win in as many games.

Bugarin finished with 21 points while Bautista added 15 points, who debuted with a 74-70 win over Philippine Air Force last week.

Jethro Mendoza added 12 points, including three straight three-pointers during a fiery second-quarter blast that put the Generals ahead, 56-33, at halftime.

Jeanu Carlo Gano scored 11 points and Jerome Garcia added 10 for EAC.

Nikko Lao scored 22, including 11 of San Jose's 31 third-quarter points that made the game interesting.

Kevin Sumay added 17 and Jayson Grimaldo contributed 11 for San Jose, winless in five games.
