PHILIPPINE side IECO Green Warriors was dealt a rude reception in the Asia League Terrific 12, suffering a 28-point beatdown at the hands of Ryukyu Golden Kings, 103-75 on Tuesday at Studio City Event Center in Macau.
The boys of coach Ariel Vanguardia struggled to get going, falling behind early, 17-0, and the Japanese crew blew cruised to the easy win.
Matt Salem paced IECO with 15 points on a 4-of-7 shooting from threes, to go with three rebounds and two assists, as Kris Porter came off the bench and pumped 12 points.
Import Sam Logwood had 10 points and nine rebounds for the Green Warriors, but had to play as the lone reinforcement for their squad after Richard Howell suffered a left leg injury midway through the first quarter.
Tiras Wade will replace the former TNT import for the team's next game.
IECO also had an unimpressive showing from its Fil-Ams, with Joshua Munzon only logging five points, two steals and a rebound, while Avery Scharer got four points, five boards and four dimes.
Josh Scott led Ryukyu's balanced attack with 17 points and seven rebounds, as former NBA player Jeff Ayres tallied a double-double of 12 points and 14 rebounds, ‘with five assists.
Takatoshi Furukawa captained the locals with 15 points and three boards.
IECO fights for its life on Thursday when it takes on Chinese powerhouse Xinjiang Flying Tigers.
