MARVIN Lee scored 26, including nine in the extra period to power University of Sto. Tomas to a 116-109 overtime win over Arellano on Wednesday in the 2017 Republica Cup collegiate basketball tournament at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center.
Lee sealed the win for the Growling Tigers in overtime, converting two triples. His triple with 1:45 left in overtime gave the Tigers a 111-101 lead.
Steve Akomo also scored 26, Zachary Huang had 15 and Regie Boy Basibas added 13 points in the Growling Tigers' first match of the tournament.
Brylle Meca scored 22 points, including a triple with 0.6 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime, but the Chiefs couldn’t hold on and fell to 1-1.
In the commercial division, Racal Ceramica downed Mighty Sports, 97-83, for its second win in as many games, taking the top spot in the six-team field.
Kent Salado had 25 points, while Allan Mangahas added 12 points, all in the first half that saw the Tile Masters take a 58-41 lead.
Sunday Salvacion had 16 points for Mighty Sports, which slipped to 1-1.
