PHILIPPINE Merchant Marine School, La Consolacion College-Manila, and Manila Tytana Colleges defeated separate rivals at the close of the 4th Interscholastic Athletic Association classification roun at the Manila Tytana Colleges gym.
PMMS completed a six-game sweep of the initial phase with a 96-60 rout of Feati, La Consolacion pulled off a 74-64 win over defending champion Technological Institute of the Philippines and Manila Tytana posted an 84-80 victory opposite Philippine Women’s University to nail its first victory.
Dhon Reverente sizzled anew by firing 26 points as the PMMS cagers continued their impressive debut campaign in the league backed by Molten and Mikasa of Sonia Trading, Globe and Abot Kaya Pinoy.
Josue Quintal scored 19 points while Kerr Bailey Bangeles added 17 markers as LCCM secured the No. 2 spot with a record of 5-1 by surviving the 31-point output of TIP’s Jemuel Namocatcat.
On the other hand, Kevin Espinoza hit 24 points and Leo Maderazo registered 15 points to help Manila Tytana end a dismal 0-5 start.
TIP finished the classifications in third with a 4-2 record, Feati settled for fourth with an even 3-3 slate while idle St Dominic College of Asia, PWU and Manila Tytana forged a tie for fifth-to-seventh slots at 1-5.
Sixth placer SDCA meets seventh-ranked Manila Tytana while Feati battles PWU at the start of the ladderized phase on Wednesday, also at the MTC gym.
