TWO days before the end of the trade deadline , a number of teams made big moves in a bid to bolster their respective lineups in the MPBL Datu Cup.

Pampanga is one of the busiest teams.

After trading for ex-pros Levi Hernandez and Pari Llagas, the Lanterns acquired two frontliners from the free agent pool in Arden Guiyab and Mark Anthony Guillen.

Bacoor acquired the rights to ex-pro Samboy de Leon, who was released by San Juan to the free agency pool while Marikina took former PBA player Jondan Salvador.

The 6-foot-5 Guiyab was released by the Zamboanga Valientes. Pampanga will be Guiyab's third team in two seasons, having played for Imus Bandera last season.

Guillen, a 6-foot-3 banger, played for Imus before he got waived last October 14.

After trading Marlon Gomez for Hernandez and losing Allen Enriquez due to injury, the Lanterns are desperate to get big men.

The Lanterns are awaiting the MPBL Commissioner's Office approval on the official transfer of Guiyab and Guillen.

This developed as Bataan took a gamble on Richard Escoto, a versatile 6-foot-4 player who is still playing in the UAAP for the Far Eastern University Tamaraws.

Escoto's rights previously belonged to the Navotas Clutch, who put him on the roster even before the MPBL Datu Cup started before he was eventually waived.

Escoto is expected to fill the void that will be left at Bataan by Jeepy Faundo, the 6-foot-5 center who will be applying for the PBA Rookie Draft.

Also making their move are the Zamboanga Valientes, who picked up Reynald Yasay, a former player of Pasay, and RR de Leon, a former University of the East mainstay who was released by the Voyagers.
