    Manila shakes off slow start to beat Parañaque, tightens grip on second spot in MPBL

    MANILA shook of a slow start to beat Parañaque, 98-88, on Tuesday in the MPBL Datu Cup at the Valenzuela Astrodome.

    Chris Bitoon and Kyles Lao showed the way as the Stars scored their fourth straight win and improved their win-loss record to 11-2.

    The Stars tightened their hold on second spot.

    Bitoon scored 22 points, nine in the fourth period, while Lao came off the bench to score 14 for the Philip Cezar-mentored team, now only half a game behind tournament leader Bataan Risers.

    Bacoor defeated home team Valenzuela, 88-81.

    Leo De Vera had a double-double of 11 points and 17 rebounds as the Strikers notched their eighth win in 13 games. Valenzuela fell to 4-9.
