COLD shooting and its inability to match with the opponents' size doomed Manila Chooks TM as it suffered an early exit in the 2020 Fiba 3x3 World Tour Doha Masters early Saturday (Manila time).

The Philippine squad was overpowered by world No. 1 Liman, 15-22, and bowed to home team Lusail, 14-19, to go winless in Pool A at Al Gharafa Sports Complex.

Joshua Munzon's best efforts fell flat in both games as he was the only one who got his game going for Manila Chooks.

The Fil-Am slasher drained three deuces to spark Manila's late flurry and cut Liman's 12-5 lead down to just one, 14-13.

But Mihailo Vasic and Stefan Kojic bullied their way down low to douse that rally, before Stefan Stojacic, the 2017 Fiba 3x3 World Tour MVP who lent a helping hand to the Filipinos earlier this year, capped the game off with a long bomb with 2:22 remaining and secure the victory for the Serbian side.

Munzon topscored for Manila with nine points built on four two-pointers, while Pasaol added four in the defeat.

Liman, on the other hand, just showed its class with its balanced attack as Vasic and Kojic scoring seven points, while Stojacic and Aleksandar Ratkov pouring in four each.

It was the same story against Lusail, much to the chagrin of the Filipino fans who came to support Manila Chooks.

Souley Ndour, a 6-foot-10 Senegalese center, made a living in the paint, scoring 10 points as he was quick to put the Qatari side ahead, 5-2.

Santi Santillan did make things interesting with a dunk and a quick follow-up block on Ndour, while Alvin Pasaol also got his licks to tie the game at five.

But the sheer size advantage was too much to overcome for the Filipinos, with Ndour and Greek reinforcement Kostas Vasileiadis helping Lusail erect a 16-10 lead late as it soon milked the game clock to secure the victory.

Munzon once again topped Manila with eight points and five boards in the defeat, which saw a number of players fight through the pain to finish this run.

Munzon was favoring his left leg midway through the affair, Pasaol hurt his right shin from his big block on Ndour, and Troy Rike was rocked after a collision with Ndour during the game.

Not only did Manila Chooks TM miss out on the $40,000 cash prize for the champion of the Doha Masters, it also failed to qualify for the 2020 Fiba 3x3 World Tour Finals in Jeddah in December.
