MANILA defeated Mandaluyong, 72-69, on Saturday to rule the National Capital Region (NCR) Athletic Meet secondary boys basketball tournament at the Pasig Sports Center.
The Big City bets, represented by National University, earned the right to represent NCR in the Palarong Pambansa this summer in Vigan City.
Leading the charge for Manila are Gilas 2023 pool member Carl Tamayo, Gerry Austin Abadiano and UAAP players Terrence Fortea, Miguel Oczon, Cyril Gonzales, and Ernest Felicilda.
NCR is coached by Goldwin Monteverde, who was also the coach when Chiang Kai Shek College won the Palaro basketball tournament in San Jose, Antique in 2017.
Mandaluyong was represented by NCAA side Jose Rizal University.
