ATENEO overcame a flat first half to surge past a tough University of Visayas squad, 91-81, to complete the cast of semifinalists in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League on Saturday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The win allowed the Blue Eagles to tie the Lyceum Pirates atop Group A with 2-0 records. They'll be crossing paths to determine the top seed, with the winner facing San Sebastian and the loser being relegated to a date with San Beda.

The defending UAAP champions trailed the kings of Cesafi early on as Rey Suerte proved that his impressive performance against the Pirates weren't just pure luck.

With Suerte leading the attack, the Green Lancers led by two at the half before a 31-point outburst by the Blue Eagles erased the fight out of them for good.

Gian Mamuyac starred for the Blue Eagles in the second half, scoring most of his team-high 15 markers in the final 20 minutes.

Isaac Go, who missed the first game due to academics, returned to the fold for coach Tab Baldwin to add 13 points as Thirdy Ravena finished with nine.

Suerte led the Green Lancers with 29 points, 14 rebounds and four assists - upping his averages to 27.5 points and 12 rebounds in Manila though it hasn’t translated into victories for them.

Bassirru Sakor added 13 while Gileant Delator chipped in 12.
