CHARLES Mammie failed to suit up for University of the East in its debut game in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup Wednesday, sparking speculations he may have been meted out a disciplinary action by the school.
Coach Boyzie Zamar didn't give a clear answer when asked on why the player from Sierra Leone was a no-show, but hinted at possible disciplinary action.
“This is a student-athlete league,” Zamar said moments after the Red Warriors defeated Southwestern University on Wednesday. “There is no exception to disciplinary action. We have rules.”
“It’s personal,” Zamar curtly replied when asked to elaborate.
But the coach pointed out Mammie is still part of the team, but remained non-committal on when he will be playing.
“Let’s see,” Zamar said.
Mammie was a transferee from Arellano and is expected to boost the Red Warriors’ frontline.
Despite Mammie’s absence, the Warriors beat the Cobras, 81-62.
