CLINT Escamis scored 34 as Malayan University beat National University, 103-98, to keep a share of the lead in the PCABL 11th Freego Cup at the Buddhacare gym in Quezon City.
Escamis was 12 of 24 from the field and made all nine free throw attempts, aside from posting five boards and three steals in 36 minutes of action as the Red Robins improved to 3-1.
The Red Robins also got a big lift from Dan Hernandez who had 20 points and six boards as he helped hand the Bullpups their second defeat in four starts.
Gerry Abadiano and Carl Tamayo combined for 44 points but got little support from their teammates.
Tied with Malayan for the lead are Adamson and Jose Rizal University.
The Baby Falcons crushed the University of the East Junior Warriors, 88-50, while the Light Bombers outlasted the Perpetual Altalettes, 75-72.
