Games on Sunday
(Pasig City Sports Center)
2 p.m. – PDEA vs AFP
3:30 p.m. – Senate vs Judiciary
5 p.m. – PNP vs Malacañang
MALACANANG-Philippine Sports Commission shoots for the second outright semis berth when it tangles with reigning titlist Philippine National Police on Sunday in the 6th UNTV Cup at the Pasig City Sports Center.
Coming off a thrilling 63-59 win over the Senate Defenders, the Malacañang-PSC Kamao should be more motivated in their 5 p.m. encounter with the PNP Responders in the annual tournament for public servants.
A victory would enable the Kamao to tie the National Housing Authority Builders for second to third places with similar 8-2 records but the former will clinch the second bonus due to the winner over the other rule.
But if the Responder (5-4) would prevail, the Builders will stay at No. 2 even if the Armed Forces of the Philippines drops its game against the PDEA Drug Busters.
The Cavaliers, who will face the Drug Busters at 2 p.m. are already assured of a semis berth and a twice-to-beat incentive in the semis. They are toting a league best 8-1 record.
A three-way tie for first would occur if Malacañang-PSC wins and AFP loses.
If that happens, AFP and Malacañang-PSC will secure the two automatic bonuses having beaten the NHA Builders.
Equally exciting is the 3:30 p.m. showdown between Senate and Judiciary, two teams tied for fourth to fifth places with identical 6-3 marks.
Actually it will be start of their best-of-three series since the two ballclubs will also meet in the quarters.
