LYCEUM gained steam in the second period before cruising to an 89-73 win over Perpetual Help on Monday in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup in San Juan.
CJ Perez led the attack with 15 points and six rebounds as the Pirates bounced back from a loss to San Beda and improved to a 5-2 win-loss record.
Jasper Ayaay and Jeffrey Santos added 12 markers each.
After a sluggish start, the Pirates went full throttle and took a 40-25 lead at the half.
"The challenge for our guys is how they will perform after a loss. It's not about what happened in the past, but what is ahead of us," said Lyceum coach Topex Robinson.
Robinson was happy with what how his wards responded to the challenge, saying tehir resilience bodes well for the team that has been together for only six months now.
"We are still new as a group, six months pa lang kami together, at ang mga ganitong games are helping us a lot," he said.
"I always tell them that the real battle is during the season. They can't be just one-hit wonders."
Prince Eze had a double-double of 18 points and 17 rebound, while Robert Clemente chipped in 15 points for the Altas, who dropped to 2-4.
