Lyceum gets boost ahead of NCAA, scores wire-to-wire win over JRU for third place in preseason tilt

LYCEUM hacked out an 82-75 win over Jose Rizal University to claim the third place in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup on Sunday in San Juan.

CJ Perez led the Lyceum offense with 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals against a hard-fighting Heavy Bombers.

Mike Nzeusseu added 12 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks, while Jasper Ayaay and Jaycee Marcelino had 11 markers each for the Pirates, who led from start to finish.

Robinson believes the podium finish in the preseason tournament serves notice of the Pirates' potential ahead of the NCAA basketball tournament.

"For sure teams are gonna prepare against us. This is where we wanna be in the first place, and we're up to the challenge," said the former PBA player.

Ervi Grospe paced the Heavy Bombers with 17 points, while MJ Dela Virgen scored 14 markers.

Ambul Razak Abdulwahab had 11 points and 21 rebounds.
