JAYCEE Marcelino scored 24 points and 10 rebounds as Lyceum advanced to the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) final after an 82-69 win over San Sebastian on Monday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
Marcelino led the way as the Pirates, playing their sixth game in seven days counting a PBA D-League game for Zark's Burger, clinched a place in Thursday's final against either UAAP champion Ateneo or NCAA titlist San Beda.
“For us, it’s about ‘yung perseverance and grit,” said Robinson. ”This is our fourth game in four days and it really is going to take a lot to be mentally tough. We can’t find any excuse because we know the other team is also tired because they played three games also.”
After LPU took a 35-30 lead, Marcelino scored six straight points to help the Pirates take a 49-38 advantage. A triple by Ralph Tansingco extended LPU's advantage to 61-47 entering the fourth.
Mike Nzeusseu had 13 points and 15 rebounds, while MJ Ayaay had 12 points for the Pirates.
Ryan Costelo finished with 15 points to lead the Stags.
