IT wasn't the fairytale end he would've wanted as the outgoing 'King Tamaraw,' but a new home awaits L-Jay Gonzales in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) with the Quezon Huskers.
Entering their sophomore season, the Huskers revealed the latest addition to 'one of the best guard-laden teams in the MPBL.'

"As we all know, your Quezon Huskers is jammed with former FEU players and coaches. As we prepare for the next season of the MPBL, we now welcome a new member of our Huskers family, former FEU King Tamaraw, L-Jay Gonzales.
"Your Quezon Huskers, known to be one of the best guard laden teams in the MPBL will now beef up its depth as the addition of L-Jay to our team will be huge to our quest for redemption," the team said.

Other former green-and-gold names joining Gonzales are Ken Holmqvist, Alfrancis Tamsi, Rodel Gravera, Ximone Sandagon, and head coach Eric Gonzales who is part of FEU's coaching staff since 2017.
In UAAP Season 86, Gonzales' final stint in the collegiate ranks, he led the 3-11 (win-loss) Tamaraws in points (14.79 ppg; fourth overall), rebounds (7.79 rpg; eighth overall), assists (3.14 apg; seventh overall), and steals (2.0 spg; joint-second overall).
The 5-foot-10 Isabela native is also among the league's statistical leaders in field goals made (77 fgs, 5.5 pg; third overall), free throws made (34 fts, 2.43 pg; eighth overall), free throw conversion rate (34/47 fts, 72/34%; ninth overall), and minutes played (409:49 mins; 29:16 mpg; fifth overall).
