LETRAN spared no time blasting St. Benilde, cruising to a 74-62 win on Monday to clinch a quarterfinal seat in the 2019 Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup.
Renato Ular had a double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds as the Knights finished the eliminations with a 5-2 card in Group B.
King Caralipio had nine points and seven boards, Jap Pambid fired eight points and three assists, and Louie Sangalang had eight points and five rebounds for the Knights.
Letran took a 27-12 first quarter lead and never let up, allowing coach Bonnie Tan to give his fringe players some much deserved minutes.
"We're giving a lot of opportunities to our players, but we want to instill discipline. If walang discipline, walang consistency," said the soft-spoken mentor.
The Blazers bowed out of the summer tournament with a 1-6 card.
Justin Gutang was the lone St. Benilde player to reach double digits in scoring with 14 points, on top of seven rebounds and three assists.
