Ewon Arayi converted the marginal basket as the Philippines defeated Mongolia, 16-15, on Tuesday in the battle for the bronze in the Asian Beach Games' basketball event at the Fengxiang Beach in Haiyang, China.
The Filipina cagebelles clinched the bronze medal after Arayi’s basket late in the 10-minute three-on-three match to give the country its fourth medal in the multisport event.
The Philippines had also won two silvers and one bronze medal courtesy of the men’s dragon boat team.
The Pinays were trailing, 14-15, when Arayi scored a field goal and a free throw with three seconds to play.
Other members of the team are Analyn Almazan, Melissa Jacob and Alliana Lim, who are also members of the indoor basketball national team.
India took home the top prize at the expense of host China, 17-14.
