LAMAR Odom said he still has room for improvement after playing his first tune-up game with Mighty Sports.

Odom saw action in Mighty Sports’ tune-up game victory over Blackwater on Saturday where he scored five points. The former Los Angeles Laker though contributed in other aspects of the game with his passing, rebounding, and defense.

“It was okay for me,” Odom said when asked about his performance during the tune-up game. “It’s been a while since I’ve been on the court. It’s good to just pop my cherry.”

Odom though said he still has to work on his conditioning with the Dubai International Basketball Tournament to be held February 1 to 9.

“My legs are dead a little bit but it’s going to be better as time goes by,” said Odom.

Mighty Sports coach Charles Tiu is satisfied with Odom’s play on Saturday.

“He was better than I expected,” Tiu said. “He’s been getting better slowly, little by little. That’s a big positive for us. I don’t think he is where he wants to be and I think he also knows it. Give a few more days and he will be fine.”

Tiu said Odom being a facilitator is something that he expects.

“That’s what I expected because he isn’t a one-on-one type guy. He likes to move the ball. Actually, I want him to go a bit more one-on-one. Siguro, he is not that young. He is 39 years old. He is an unselfish guy. He has been a good teammate to be honest,” said Tiu.

Odom said he is making a conscious effort to dish out the ball to his teammates.

“I felt good. I was able to find guys on their open spots. Hopefully, I can keep doing that and keep rebounding the ball and playing defense for us,” said Odom.

“I was impressed with our patience on offense and how we play with each other. As long as we keep doing that, we will be alright,” he said.
