NATIONAL University leaned on the hot shooting of Afril Bernardino, Gemma Miranda, and Ria Nabalan to beat Indonesia, 65-56, and advance to the final of the ASEAN University Games on Friday in Singapore.
The reigning UAAP champion battles Thailand in the gold medal match at 3 p.m. Sunday, with the Lady Bulldogs aching to avenge their 78-68 defeat to the Thais last Thursday.
Backed by Ever Bilena and mentored by Pat Aquino, the Lady Bulldogs kicked off their campaign with a 74-66 beating of the Nanyang Tech University in the opener, before trouncing the Malaysian squad, 64-51, last Wednesday.
Aquino is hoping other key players such as Jack Animam, Trixie Antiquera, and Monique del Carmen will be able to deliver for the Lady Bulldogs to have a better chance of beating the crack Thai squad.
The Thais, according to Aquino, are backstopped by several members of the Thai national squad.
