    La Salle uses huge first half to clobber SWU

    LA SALLE took firm control right from the start en route to a 98-61 rout of Southwestern University in the FilOil Flying V Pre-Season Premier Cup at the Arena on Saturday.

    The Green Archers led by 18 after one period and later launched an 8-0 run, with six points coming from Norbert Torres, to put up a 21-point advantage, 46-25, late in the second quarter.

    The Taft-based squad widened the gap, 75-45, after an Almond Vosotros basket.

    "To be honest one week before our game with SWU nag prepare talaga ako kasi gigil ako last time," said Vosotros, referring to his 10-point performance in the Archers’ 73-67 opening-day win over University of Santo Tomas. 

    Vosotros, who unloaded 13 of his 17 points in the first half, led the Green Archers to their second win in as many games. Torres had 16, Jason Perkins added 12 and Gabby Reyes contributed 10.

    "Sabi ni coach (Gee Abanilla) sa aming mga seniors dapat manggaling ang consistency at tulungan yung mga bata," added Vosotros.

    La Salle, atop group B, grabbed 49 rebounds compared to SWU's 27.

    Morbert Arong finished with 13 markers for SWU, which absorbed its third straight loss.
