LA Salle gave coach Aldin Ayo his first win in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup, 98-88, over Adamson on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.
The Green Archers started the game with a 12-0 then fought back against an Adamson rally in the third quarter to open the preseason tournament with a win.
Jeron Teng, Gboy Gob, and Ben Mbala lifted the Green Archers to the win in the team’s first outing in the preseason tournament under Ayo, who took over the La Salle seniors basketball program last December.
Newly-hired Adamson mentor Franz Pumaren lost in his first game in the preseason tournament as he faced his former team that he led to five UAAP titles.
Teng had 30 points and nine rebounds for the Green Archers. Gob and Mbala powered an 8-2 run in the fourth period that put the Archers ahead, 77-69.
Gob finished with 20 points, while Mbala had 13 points and 10 rebounds,
La Salle also used an 8-0 blast in the fourth quarter for an 87-73 lead.
Sean Maganti topscored for Adamson with 13 points, while Robbie Manalang and Terence Mustre had 11 points each.
