No. 1 Villanova deals Creighton first loss as Kobe Paras yet to see action in Big East play

NCAA defending champion Villanova dealt 10th-ranked Creighton its first loss, 80-70, on Saturday in Omaha (Sunday, Manila time).

The game was tied at 66 when Creighton guard Isaiah Zierden hit a triple off a Marcus Foster over four minutes to play.

Josh Hart then hit a layup, Jalen Brunson sank a jumper and the Wildcats went on to score their 14th win and second in Big East play.

Jalen Brunson scored a career-high 27 points, making 10 of 14 field goal attempts, while Kris Jenkins came up with 21 points on 6 of 14 shooting.

Hart posted a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds for Villanova.

Creighton started hot and took an early 10-point lead, 19-9, but Villanova quickly recovered.

The Bluejays saw their win streak end at 13.

Kobe Paras of the Philippines has yet to see action in Big East play, with Creighton now at 1-1. The Bluejays defeated Seton Hall Pirates last week.

Marcus Foster scored 22 points and Justin Patton added 18 for Creighton.
