CREIGHTON continued its fine play, downing Ole Miss, 86-77, in the final of the Paradise Jam tournament on Monday in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands (Tuesday, Manila time).
Marcus Foster scored 25 points as the Bluejays scored their fifth win in as many games.
Creighton, which had scored huge wins over fancied Wisconsin and NC State to jump 10 spots to No. 12 in the college basketball rankings, fell behind by double digits early but fought back in the second half and took the lead on a Khyri Thomas basket and a free throw off a Cullen Neal foul, 77-74.
Bluejays center Justin Patton scored on a dunk off a Maurice Watson Jr assist extended the lead to five with three minutes to play and the Bluejays held on to top the eight-team event.
Thomas scored 16 and Patton finished with 11 for Creighton.
Toby Hegner came off the bench to score 12 points, while Kobe Paras of the Philippines did not see action.
Guards DeAndre Burnett and Rasheed Brooks scored 22 points each for the Rebels, who absorbed their first loss after five wins.
Foster won MVP honors and Cole Huff was named to the Paradise Jam All Tournament team.
Creighton next takes on Loyola Maryland.
