KOBE Paras is letting his game do the talking after putting on his best performance by far for Gilas Pilipinas since coming back from the US.
The son of former PBA star Benjie Paras scored 20 points, including nine straight in Gilas’ 11-0 run in the fourth quarter, although his efforts went down the drain after they lost to National University, 81-86, in the FilOil Flying V Preseason Cup at The Arena in San Juan.
The 6-foot-6 wingman later declined to be interviewed as he immediately left the building with his older brother Andre.
“Ah, no no no,” said Paras when asked for an interview.
Gilas coach Jong Uichico, though, had something to say about his promising 20-year-old ward, saying Paras has been improving as he came in averaging 10.6 points per game in their previous five matches before he doubled it against NU.
“Well… yeah he’s been (improving), scoring wise he’s getting better in terms of his being settled down, he’s known for his energy being up and down,” said Uichico.
“But you know he’s trying to be under control and he played well today, streaky scorer. When he’s hot like that, you’ve got to ride with it so ‘yun,” he added.
