Villanova asserts supremacy, takes down Creighton as Kobe Paras a DNP in Big East final

JOSH Hart showed the way as NCAA titleholder Villanova ripped Creighton, 74-60, in the Big East Tournament final on Saturday in New York (Sunday, Manila time).

Creighton managed to keep pace with the champions in the first 10 minutes, before the Wildcats took charge and got ahead 36-22 by halftime.

Hart scored 29 points on 9 of 18 shooting as Villanova bagged its third Big East Tournament title and second in the last three years.

Jalen Brunson had 17 points and Kris Jenkins added 14 as Villanova again came up successful with a seven-player rotation.

The Wildcats, which has a 31-3 record, are fancied to get the No. 1 seeding in the NCAA Tournament.

The Bluejays, who defeated the Providence Firars in the quarterfinals and Xavier Musketeers in the semifinals, got 13 points each from Cole Huff and Marcus Foster, while Justin Patton added 10.

Kobe Paras did not see action for Creighton, which wound up with a 25-9 record.
