KOBE Paras scored 13 points as Cathedral defeated Redondo, 61-56, in the Southern Section Open Division playoffs on Thursday (Friday Manila time).
Paras also scored crucial baskets in the fourth quarter to lift the ninth-seed Cathedral into the next round where it faces top-seed Bishop Montgomery in the quarterfinals of their mother league.
Lucas Siewert, a recruit from Brazil, had 18 points in the stunning win over their eight-seeded opponent.
Cathedral though will have its hands full against the no. seed Bishop Montgomery.
The school is 0-2 so far this season against the top seed team, according to Los Angeles Times reporter Eric Sondheimer.
