KEVIN Buenaflor converted a buzzer-beating basket to lift Letran to an 80-79 win over University of Santo Tomas on Wednesday at the Letran gym in a benefit game for victims of ‘Yolanda’ organized by Dominican priests.
Buenaflor’s game-winner preserved the Knights win after they led 58-45 at the end of the third quarter in front of a packed home crowd.
Letran’s Raymond Almazan and UST’s Jeric Teng drew the loudest cheers from fans when they saw action in the benefit game playing for their college teams after moving to the pros at Rain or Shine in the PBA.
Aljon Mariano was in street clothes for the benefit game as he is still recovering from an injury he suffered in the last UAAP season.
Letran and UST will play each other again in the PCCL Luzon-Metro Manila qualifiers next month.
