REINFORCED Conference MVP King Destacamento of Bacoor Strike sa Serbisyo and 17-and-under MVP John Sherick Estrada of Caloocan-Arceegee headline the Mythical Five of the Metro League which came to a close over the weekend at the Strike Gym in Bacoor, Cavite.
Destacamento posted averages of 8.7 markers, 7.5 boards and 1.9 assists to lead the Strikers all the way to the crown of the M-League Reinforced tourney that is backed by by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the PBA with Barangay 143 as league presentor.
In the clinching 67-60 Game 3 win of Bacoor, Destacamento proved his MVP caliber after pumping in a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Joining Destacamento in the Reinforced Conference Mythical Five were teammate Paolo Castro (13.1 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists) and Johnnel Rey Bauzon (12.3 points, 7.8 rebounds) of runner up Caloocan.
Also in the prestigious All M-League Mythical Team are Reneford Ruaya (Valenzuela) and ex-pro Jonathan Uyloan (Taguig) who lifted their respective squads in the semifinals before bowing to eventual finalists Caloocan and Bacoor.
Uyloan registered averages of 11.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 6.2 assists for Taguig while Ruaya normed 12.7 markers, 6.8 boards and 1.0 assists for Valenzuela in the league that also has SMS Global Technologies, Inc. as official livestream and technology partner, Spalding as official ball, Team Rebel Sports as official outfitter, PLDT as official internet service provider and Manila Bulletin as media partner.
Meanwhile in the 17-and-under boys basketball division, MVP Estrada from champion squad Caloocan-Arceegee bannered the Mythical Five together with tournament leading scorer Jericho Reyes of Las Pinas.
