TWO of the most celebrated college stars team up along with two of the best foreign student-athletes in the country as they represent the Philippines in the Fiba 3x3 All-Stars in Qatar next week.
Kiefer Ravena and Jeron Teng banner the Filipinos’ campaign alongside reinforcements Bright Akhuetie and Ola Adeogun as they fly the flag in the tournament that allows imports, slated December 8 to 12.
“Jeron and I, hopefully we’ll be representing the country well,” Ravena said after attending Gilas Pilipinas practice last Monday. “Bagong game: new rules, new style of play, so another challenge and I’m really looking forward to it.”
After practicing with the 3-on-3 team at the Meralco gym, Ravena trained with the national team in the same venue as part of his buildup for the Qatar event.
“Gusto ko siya gawing training ground lalo na nandito na yung pinakamagaling sa buong Pilipinas, so magandang experience rin ‘to for me,” he said. “Hopefully madala ko siya sa Qatar.”
Terrence Romeo, a 3-on-3 veteran, gave the team advice on how to excel in the setting.
“Spread lang nila yung floor, spacing, tapos laruin lang nila yung skills nila kasi ganun lang para makapag-perform ka ng maganda sa three-on-three,” the GlobalPort star said.
