KIEFER Ravena is the newest ambassador of the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL).
The NLEX star said he is excited to help in the development women’s basketball in the country as he joins Bea Daez-Fabros as ambassadors of the pioneering pro league.
“I’ve always been a big fan of women’s basketball,” said Ravena. “I believe that it is just as entertaining as men’s basketball. Now that I’m part of the WNBL as an ambassador, I have to represent the league in the highest form and the best way possible.”
Ravena said he will be very much involved in growing the league for the benefit of the country's women’s basketball players.
“Hopefully, not only ‘yung mga bata na gustong mag-PBA ang mag-idol sa 'yo, pati na rin mga Pinay ballers na bata pa lang, nangangarap na silang makapasok sa WNBL. Hopefully, I can be a role model to them knowing that they have big dreams too,” said Ravena.
NBL-Pilipinas chairman Soy Mercado and WNBL executive vice-president Rhose Montreal officially welcomed the NLEX star to the league in an online show in the league's Facebook page.
“It is really a welcome thing to have another ambassador in the person of Kiefer. Everybody knows how supportive Kiefer of women’s basketball,” said Montreal.
The WNBL is set to announce eligible applicants for the first-ever draft on Tuesday night. A total of 702 players are being evaluated by a screening committee.
