JOSEPH Yeo and Kiefer Ravena came up big in the clutch as Mighty Sports eked out a 72-70 win over host Singapore Slingers in the Merlion Cup semifinals at the OCBC Arena on Saturday (Manila time).
Ravena made a reverse layup that gave the Philippine side the lead for good, 69-68, with 1:15 to go before Yeo put the finishing touches to the victory with a clutch three-pointer, 72-68.
With the win, Mighty Sports arranged a finals clash with the Yao Ming-owned Shanghai Sharks, who like Mighty are also unbeaten in the tournament ending on Sunday.
Ravena and Yeo's late baskets preserved the heroics of import Dewarick Spencer, who topscored for Mighty Sports with 29 points.
The Jones Cup MVP led Mighty back from a nine-point deficit in the third period, where he scattered 17 points to give the Filipinos a 56-55 lead with one quarter to go.
It was a see-saw battle from there before Ravena and Yeo took over in the final stretch.
