Kevin Quiambao's 36 points, 12 rebounds help Sono end slump

KEVIN Quiambao gave Korea fans a glimpse of his full prowess, guiding Goyang Sono Skygunners to a thrilling 86-82 victory over Wonju DB Promy on Sunday at Goyang Sono Arena.

The back-to-back UAAP MVP unloaded 10 of his career-best 36 points in the fourth quarter, including the game-sealing free throws with 10 seconds left to earn his first victory in the Korean Basketball League.

    Quiambao shot 6-of-14 from deep and chipped in 12 rebounds, three assists, and two steals to snap the Skygunners’ four-game skid and wrap up just their 11th win in 35 games.

    Reigning KBL MVP Ethan Alvano gave a good account of himself with his 18 points, eight dimes, and five boards in the loss which sent the Promy down to a 16-20 record.

    SJ Belangel double double

    SJ Belangel also helped Daegu KOGAS Pegasus stave off the Seoul Samsung Thunders, 72-69, at Daegu Gymnasium.

    The KBL All-Star finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and two steals to aid his side’s bounce back win for a 19-16 card.

    Justin Gutang collected 11 points from three treys, on top of eight assists and six boards in the Thunders's sixth straight loss - and 24th in 35 games.

    JD Cagulangan also put up six points in seven minutes in Suwon KT Sonicboom’s 95-84 win over Busan KCC Egis at Busan Sajik Gymnasium.

    Carl Tamayo contributed in Changwon LG Sakers’ 76-61 rout of Wonju on Saturday at Wonju Gymnasium.

    The Gilas Pilipinas stalwart notched 11 points, three rebounds, an assist, and a steal to extend the Sakers’ win streak to seven and rise to 21-13.

    Javi Gomez de Liano also helped Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters to an 85-78 clipping of Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus at Anyang Gymnasium.

    The former Terrafirma gunner shot 3-of-6 from deep for his 15 points, four rebounds, and one steal to push Anyang to its fourth consecutive win and climb up to 12-23.

    Migs Oczon was scoreless in two minutes of play for Ulsan (21-13) in the loss.
