MALOLOS — What was supposed to be post-game pleasantries at the end of a PCBL Chairman's Cup match on Sunday night descended in chaos when Kevin Ferrer of Mighty Sports ended up with a bloodied nose from a 'hit' by Euro-Med center Ola Adeogun.
A commotion broke out at the end of Mighty Sports' highly physical 99-84 win over Euro-Med in Game One of their best-of-three semifinal series when Ferrer claimed he was hit by Adeogun while the two teams were shaking hands on the court at the Malolos Convention Center.
Witnesses claimed Adeogun hit Ferrer with an elbow, leaving the former University of Santo Tomas star with a bloodied nose that was later treated by a team doctor.
Mighty Sports coach Mike Fermin claimed to have seen what happened.
“Kakakamay lang kami. Show of sportsmanship. Binanatan eh. Hindi naman magkakasugat si Kevin. Binanatan ni Ola si Kevin,” said Fermin.
Here's a SPIN.ph video of the commotion:
The commotion capped what had been an emotional match that saw Euro-Med coach Yong Garcia getting ejected during the second quarter for two consecutive technical fouls for continuous complaining.
There were also parts of the match where players had to be restrained by referees due to physical play.
