KENNETH Duremdes scored 15 points to lead Filipino-Chinese Veterans Basketball Association (FCVBA) to a 107-62 win over ZAAP Sports-Thailand in the 40-above division of the 25th Asean Veterans Basketball Tournament at the Chiang Kai Shek College Gym.
The former PBA MVP got plenty of support from his fellow ex-pros, with Jack Santiago scoring 13 points and Benny Cheng adding 10 points in the Philippine team's auspicious start to its title-retention bid.
FCVBA took command early, opening a 23-14 lead after one quarter and a 45-28 advantage by halftime in the tournament also backed by Rain or Shine, Freego Jeans, Ironcon Builders and Philippine Airlines.
FCVBA also won its 50-above and 60-above matches earlier in the day. The 50-above squad won over ZAAP-Thailand, 77-49, while the 60-above squad beat Sarawak, 42-25.
